Ecomuseum

At the Domina Home Parco dello Stelvio, you will see man, together with his traditions and knowledge, side by side with nature. By getting to know the communities that live in Val di Pejo and retracing their history, you will add a cultural dimension to your holiday, enhancing it with human and spiritual experiences.

The people living in the “Valéta”, Val di Pejo, have sought to protect their historical and environmental heritage by transforming it into an open-air museum, an eternally living and evolving Ecomuseum: the “Small Alpine World” Ecomuseum of Val di Pejo.

The seven small villages nestled within the valley hide away their own unique peculiarities for you to discover: Comasine, the cradle of an old mining community with its small church of Saint Lucia; Strombiano with its Casa Grazioli farmhouse and the ruins of the “Casacia”, an old mediaeval tower; Celentino with its Ecomuseum; Celledizzo with its Ethnographical Museum of Wood; Cogolo with its old parish church and magnificent frescos; Pejo Fonti with its beneficial thermal waters which were already renowned in the 17th century; and Pejo Paese with its War Museum and the last times hare dairy house in the province.

Casa Grazioli, or “Casa dela Béga”, in Strombiano, is the Ecomuseum’s star feature: a farmhouse that has remained unchanged over the last few centuries, it is a doorway to the past for everyone to see.

You will also find various themed itineraries immersed within this natural setting, such as the “Linum Ethnographical Trail”, between Strombiano and Celentino, and “The Old Larch Forest”, in Val Comasine, together with various relatively traditional events, such as the “Tosada” and “l'ecomuseo in piazza” (ecomuseum in the square).

These are just a few examples of what the Ecomuseum has to offer. They provide an excellent opportunity to really get to know the area, its history and its traditions, and a chance to get away from the usual tourist activities.
